Bail Set For Suspect In Missing Woman Case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Bail was set at $500,000 for a man accused of killing a young Las Vegas woman and taking her body out to the desert.

Police say Christopher Prestipino killed Esmeralda Gonzalez. Gonzalez, 24, was last seen on May 31st. Her body was found Oct. 8th encased in a homemade concrete and wooden structure in a desert area north of Las Vegas, police said.

Pestipino’s attorneys asked the judge for bail to be set at $100,00, saying Prestipino was not a flight risk Prosecutors hoped for no bail.

Two other people have been arrested in connection with Gonzalez’ disappearance. Presitpino’s girlfriend, Lisa Mort faces charges of harboring, concealing and aiding a felon. She's free, but is being electronically monitored

A third person, 39 year old Cassandra Bascones, was arrested in Milwaukee. Bascones, faces a number of charges, including first degree murder and kidnapping. She remains in Wisconsin wiating extradition back to Las Vegas.
