LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT) - 14 people have lost their lives on Valley roads so far in 2019 after a pair of accidents added three to the list over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, two people were killed in a head-on crash on Fort Apache north of Tropicana. Investigators say an elderly driver of one car lost control and headed into the opposite direction of traffic. The two occupants of the car that was struck were killed. The driver that caused the crash was last listed in serious condition.

Police haven't said what caused the man to veer in the opposite direct as that investigation continues

Then later that day, a man was struck and killed while trying to cross Las Vegas Boulevard in front of the South Point Hotel.

Police say the man was crossing outside of a marked crosswalk just after 9:30pm when he was struck. Two Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were having dinning at a restaurant near the scene and rushed out to help. The person was sent to U.M.C. Trauma but didn't make it.

The driver who hit the man stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities. Impairment is not considered a factor in that accident.
