LAS VEGAS, NV (KXNT)- One day after the most powerful earthquake to hit southern California in 20 years, a second, even more powerful quake hit the same area, and was felt throughout Las Vegas.

The 7.1 earthquake hit around 8:19pm Friday, stopping play at the NBA Summer League at the Thomas and Mack Center where the Knicks were playing the Pelicans.

Down at Mandalay Bay, the Las Vegas Aces game against the Washington Mystics was postponed. A date and time for when the game wll be resumed has yet to be determined.

The quake also caused shaking at Dodger Stadium, but play continued between the Dodgers and Padres.

Seimologists had said after the original quake on Thursday that there was a 1 in 20 chance that it was a precursor to a strong one to come.

Overall, though, fire departments across the valley reported a quiet evening.
