LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - Las Vegas and Clark County firefighters responded to the Embassy Apartments, 2717 Kings Way at 4:07 a.m. Monday, Mar. 25.

On arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing from an upstairs apartment of two-story / 12 unit apartment building. It appeared the fire might be spreading into the attic so a second alarm was requested to help stop the fire.

It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to other apartments. The fire did damage a utility chase which carries the wiring for the entire building. As a precaution, the power was disconnected to the entire building until a complete inspection of the wiring can be conducted. As a result of no power in the building, 16 adults and three children were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced with temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire gutted the apartment. A damage estimate was not available.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.
