Mojave Road Improvements Continue Through November

Expect Work And Lane Restrictions Weekdays 7 A.M. – 5 P.M.

September 13, 2018 - 3:21 pm

LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - Utility adjustments, milling, and paving operations will continue on Mojave Road between Charleston Boulevard and Owens Avenue through November 2018. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic will generally be restricted to one lane in each direction, north- and southbound. Primary work activities of milling and overlay repaving will take approximately two weeks within the 10-week schedule, subject to equipment availability. Following the paving, there will be small work zones while utilities/manholes are raised to be flush with the new pavement.

Eastern Avenue and Pecos Road are recommended as alternate routes for north- and southbound traffic.

The current work consists of full-depth pavement removal and reconstruction, thin lift overlay, median islands, and installation of new traffic delineation, buffered bike lanes and on-street parking. Preliminary work was completed this spring and consisted of improvements to the sidewalk areas to meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, which included the reconstruction of a concrete cross gutter, and curb and gutter.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas is managing the project. The estimated cost of the work is $1.5 million, with funding provided by the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission’s Fuel Revenue Indexing tax.
