Interstate 15 Northbound Closed Tuesday Night In Las Vegas

Temporary Closure Needed To Install Active Traffic Management (ATM) Signs

November 27, 2018 - 2:12 pm

LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - Grab the navigation systems on your phone, especially if you plan on driving around Tuesday night. There will be a major highway closure in Las Vegas.

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close Interstate 15 northbound between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard from 10 p.m., November 27, until 4:30 a.m., November 28, in Las Vegas. Additionally, the Sahara Avenue onramp to Interstate 15 northbound will be closed from 9 p.m., November 27, until 5 a.m., November 28.

The temporary closure is needed for installation of Active Traffic Management (ATM) signs as part of Project Neon – a nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue that began in 2016. Project Neon is 88 percent finished and scheduled for substantial completion in the summer of 2019.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website ( or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smartphone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures, and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.
