Henderson Police Investigate Crash That Resulted In Delayed Death

Crash Happened In October At Intersection Of Warm Springs And Valle Verde Drive

HENDERSON, NV (KXNT) - Henderson Police investigated a traffic collision that occurred on October 24, 2018, at approximately 8:25 p.m. at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Valle Verde Drive involving three cars.

A 2008 Ford Mustang was driven by an unrestrained 53-year-old male was traveling eastbound on Warm Springs Road and making a left turn onto northbound Valle Verde Drive on a yellow flashing yield signal. A 2016 Ford Fusion driven by a 28-year-old female was traveling westbound on Warm Springs in the #1 travel lane with a steady green signal. A 2012 Hyundai Elantra being driven by a 31-year-old female was waiting in the #2 travel lane of southbound Valle Verde at a red signal. The operator of the Ford Mustang failed to yield the right of way to the Ford Fusion resulting in a traffic collision in the intersection. The Ford Mustang spun out of the intersection and struck the 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

The driver of the Ford Mustang was transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center in Las Vegas in critical condition. The driver of the Ford Fusion was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Traffic was diverted for approximately three and a half hours, while fatal accident investigators conducted their investigation.

Additional details are still under investigation. On November 2, 2018, Henderson Police Fatal Investigators were advised that the driver of the Ford Mustang succumbed to his injuries. His name will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office after next of kin notifications. The crash is being investigated as the eleventh traffic-related fatality this year.
