LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will close U.S. Highway 93 at Interstate 15 in Clark County from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. nightly, beginning the evening of June 27 and continuing through the morning of June 30. Interstate 15 will be reduced to one lane in each direction at U.S. Highway 93 during the same time frames.

The temporary closures are required for bridge construction as part of a new $58 million Interstate 15 U.S. Highway 93 Garnet interchange that broke ground earlier this year. Ames Construction is the design-build general contractor, with Horrocks Engineers as lead designer. Plans call for building a modified diverging diamond interchange, plus widening U.S. Highway 93 from a two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway for five miles, extending from the Garnet Interchange to just north of Apex Power Parkway, among other improvements. The project is scheduled to reach completion in December.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors.
