April 25, 2019 - 2:27 pm

LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will make the following Charleston Boulevard closures from April 25 through May 3 in downtown Las Vegas:

April 25-29 (Thursday Morning-Monday Morning)

The Charleston Boulevard-Grand Central Parkway intersection will be closed from 6 a.m., April 25, until 5 a.m., April 29.

April 25-May 3 (Thursday Morning-Next Friday Afternoon)

Charleston Boulevard will be closed between Commerce Street and Grand Central Parkway from 6 a.m., April 25, until 3 p.m., May 3.

Grand Central Parkway access to westbound Charleston Boulevard will remain open. All Interstate 15 Charleston Boulevard ramps will also stay open. Additionally, Holsum Design Center access will remain intact.

The temporary closures are needed for paving and miscellaneous work as part of Project Neon’s nearly $1 billion 4-mile-long widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue, which broke ground in 2016. Project Neon is 95 percent finished and scheduled for substantial completion this summer.

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. Check the Project Neon website ( or Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages (@NDOTProjectNeon) for up to date information. There is also a free smartphone app available, plus a hotline available in both English and Spanish at 702-293-NEON (6366). NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures, and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit or call 511 before driving.

There will also be a closure of the U.S. Highway 93 onramp to Interstate 15 southbound from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., April 26, in Clark County. The temporary closure is needed for pavement repair following damage from a semi-truck rollover.

NDOT is staying busy, announcing the Las Vegas Boulevard onramp to the eastbound 215 Beltway in south Clark County will close from 9 p.m., April 28, until 5 a.m., April 29, and again from 9 p.m., April 29, until 5 a.m., April 30. The closure is needed for asphalt pavement reconstruction. Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor.
