LAS VEGAS (KXNT) - The County Election Department is looking for more bilingual poll workers to staff voting locations during early voting (Oct. 20 to Nov. 2) and/or on Election Day (Nov. 6).

The department is seeking an additional 60 people fluent in Spanish, and 20 people fluent in Tagalog. Anyone interested in working at a polling place is asked to sign up by Oct. 19 through the Election Department website at Once there, log-in to the site through "Registered Voter Services" and then select “Apply to be a Poll Worker” from the drop-down menu. Those interested may also call the Election Department at (702) 455-2815.

Poll workers are paid $175 for working Election Day, and $10 per hour during early voting. To qualify to serve as a poll worker an individual must be registered to vote in Clark County, able to work long hours (about 14 hours), perform all the duties required of them on Election Day, attend a training class, and pass an evaluation. Candidates and relatives of candidates are not allowed to serve as poll workers.

Currently, about 2,400 people have signed up to be poll workers during early voting and/or on Election Day. This includes about 340 people who speak Spanish, and about 100 who speak Tagalog.
