LAS VEGAS (AP) — U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry says he visited a national security site near Las Vegas for the second time in three months to help demonstrate his commitment to transparency of the handling of radioactive waste and other nuclear materials in Nevada.

Perry says he gave Gov. Steve Sisolak a classified briefing during Thursday’s tour at the Nevada National Security Site.

The site is at the center of a legal battle over weapons-grade plutonium the department secretly shipped to Nevada last year over the state’s objections.

It’s also the place Perry disclosed last month may have received low-level radioactive waste that was mislabeled for up to six years.

Perry says he’s committed to working closely with state officials to maintain the administration’s “trust and credibility with the people of Nevada.”

He toured the site in May with Nevada’s U.S. senators.
